UNC Football: The Tar Heels May Need John Bunting in November

I know you opened this post thinking I had lost my mind, and I appreciate you clicking the link. Well, then again, no one has accused me of having rational posts about UNC football. That being said, I am tired of losing to Dave Doeren and NC State.

Hear me out before closing the page.

For just one week in November, UNC needs to bring the former coach back to Chapel Hill to act as a team motivator, or just to be on the sideline, versus NC State. Bunting had a record of 4-2 against the Wolfpack during his six years as head coach.

Throw out Bunting’s record against every other team and just focus on the 66% winning percentage he had against the Pack.

I’m not saying John Bunting needs to come back and coach the Tar Heels. I’m not even saying he needs to call a play, give a halftime speech or have anything to do with the game plan.

Just put him on the sideline.

Let him stand there in November and remind everyone what it feels like to beat NC State.

Maybe it’s ridiculous. Maybe it’s completely irrational.

But at this point, I’m willing to try just about anything.
